Wiltshire Common Law (Precedents set by the Court)

Dereliction of Duty = Abuse of Power

Per the ruling of Judge Tropinha78 in the case of Wiltshire County v. Faisal on 3 February 1455, a soldier accused of dereliction of duty can be tried under the Public Disorder, Abuse of Power indictment. This verdict recognizes soldiers in the County Army as Appointed County Officials due to the voluntary nature of enlistment and the approval required by the Captain, ergo the Duke.

Applicability of laws not posted at the castle

Per the ruling of Judge Renault in the case of Wiltshire County v. Potential on 2 December 1454 (slavery), the precedent was set that while the minimum wage law was not posted in the castle (due to the previous council failing to post it there), it was established as common law through the following means: posted in mayor's messages throughout Wiltshire County, voted and passed in Council Chambers (forum), announced to the public; hence its applicability and enforceability as a rule of law in the County.

This precedent has a wide array of applications as it can be interpreted to mean that so long as a law is passed and announced (and now, the grace period has passed as well), it is law; thus removing the requirement that the law be posted "in the Castle" to be enforced

Admissibility of Tavern Conversations as Evidence

Judge Caissadiplomat established the precedent in Wiltshire County that in order for a tavern conversation to be presented as evidence without being considered hearsay, the witness must have been in the tavern at the time of the conversation. As this is not outlined in the Laws of Wiltshire anywhere else, this ruling was an important first step in the protection of the peoples' civil liberties.
